EDUCATIONAL

Is your child learning their letters and numbers  right now? Try writing for them on a paper, and have them recreate it with the dough. They can even make “snakes” and place them overtop what you write.

DIY PLAY TOOLS

Impressions- Toy animal footprints, leaves from an obliging maple tree, pine cones, or anything around the house that has a unique design can become the best discovery for little minds to experiment with.

“Cookie” cutters- Whether they are real cookie cutters or makeshift from things such as mason jar lid rings, pressing and pulling out these designs can be a whole new medium for play time.

HOW IT BEGAN

I’ve been making homemade play dough ever since I was a student teacher in the Early Childhood Education/Special Education major at BYU-Idaho. I graduated with my Bachelors in 2014 and went on to teach at various preschools and kindergartens, all the while perfecting my recipe and utilizing it in my classrooms. My play dough was especially useful when I worked with children who had special needs. I called it my "therapy dough" because I started adding essential oils that I knew would benefit the students I worked with. As my husband and I began raising a family, our children have benefited from my perfected recipe. Now as a homeschooler, I wish to share the experience with others so that all children can benefit from the fine motor, and sensory benefits of Dough Play Me!
